Welcome to Backwoods Creations featuring the work of Steve and MaryAnn Anderson. Both of us are trying to live our lives as creatively as possible on a daily basis. Our base of operation is our little piece of heaven in central Maine. We create because we must! Our work integrates our spiritual beliefs and vision of the interconnectedness with others and the planet. Sometimes that means our vision is a bit eclectic and a bit humorous.
MaryAnn's work is small and intimate, speaking to the emotional attachments that give everyday life meaning. Her materials of choice are fabric and collage mixed media (anything she can get her hands on). Sometimes the simplest concepts are the most elegant. However there is a tongue in cheek quality that comes out in her fabric sculptures.
Working with metal and found objects has become a passion for Steve. Different forms take shape as thrown out pieces of metal and wood are given new life as an object d'art. Recycling, repurposing or reusing, whatever you may call it, makes for some cool looking pieces.
